Building a Winnebago Era 70x Mattress

Finding the right mattress for a motorhome can be tough, especially when dealing with unusual spaces. When Jim began his search for a mattress for his Winnebago Era 70x, it was no surprise he was presented with space and comfort challenges. In our collaboration with Jim, we aimed to balance comfort with the unique layout of his RV. Through collaboration and adjustments, we crafted a customized mattress that fit perfectly in the unique Winnebago Era 70x and maximized his space and comfortability.

Problem

Jim needed a mattress for his Class B motorhome, a Winnebago Era 70x. This vehicle presented challenges due to its unique spacing, including an angle-changing edge and a notch in one corner. The original mattress design did not optimize the available space, prompting Jim to seek a customized RV mattress with more walking space.

Objective

The objective was to design a mattress that maximized space utilization in Jim’s motorhome while ensuring comfort and practicality. Jim and Delarkin collaborated to create a tailored mattress solution that perfectly fits the unconventional dimensions of the Winnebago Era 70x sleeping area.

Strategy

After collaborative discussions and verification of dimensions, we designed a tailored mattress for Jim’s Winnebago Era 70x. The process involved creating detailed diagrams, obtaining customer approval, building the mattress to precise specifications, compressing the unique shape and size for shipping, and facilitating easy installation.

Result

Initially, the installed mattress required minor comfort adjustments and a reevaluation of the space. With the expertise of master mattress maker Phillip Arkin, modifications were made to the mattress shape, including carving out a walking space in the middle and adding a hinged cover for foldability. Despite the additional work, Jim was extremely happy with the outcome. The success of this project led to Jim providing business referrals to many other happy customers, including Kara, who was seeking a similar customized mattress solution for her motorhome. This case demonstrates our ability to adapt and innovate to meet the unique needs of RV, boat, and motorhome owners, offering tailored mattress solutions for unconventional spaces.
